Foster + Partners just completed Apple’s Marina Bay Floating Outlet

Founded by Norman Foster in 1967, Foster + Partners is an international office for sustainable architecture, engineering, town planning and industrial design. Since then, he along with his team have established a worldwide recognition. With offices across the globe, they work as a single team. They design buildings that run at a little bit of the current energy requirements to improve the quality of life in a community for all.

Recently the practice has completed a retail project dubbed Apple Marina Bay Sand located at Singapore. The design of the project is inspired by Rome’s iconic Pantheon. A standard footbridge from the shore connects the shore to the building, it is accessed by an underwater entrance through a nearby located shopping mall also .The store features great glass work which offers amazing panoramic views. The building has been constructed on an existing platform under water. The store is surrounded by trees and baffles that create a pleasant shade /lighting effects. The store has an eye shaped opening on its top and glows like a lantern at night.

“Entirely surrounded by water, Apple Marina Bay Sands offers uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views of the city and its spectacular skyline,” explains Apple. “The sphere is a first-of-its-kind, all-glass dome structure that is fully self-supported, comprised of 114 pieces of glass with only 10 narrow vertical mullions for structural connection. As Apple’s third retail location in Singapore, the new store creates an unforgettable space for customers.”

For interior décor, a typical theme has been created by utilizing wood, glass and stone like other Apple stores. There is a video wall to host events, this area is called Forum. The Boardroom is located below the water and clients can visit, experience and get advice on using Apple software here. As reported by Dezeen, this area is located next to Apple Genius bar where products are displayed.
